In September 2003, Shadi and her husband discovered the town of Bath, a jewel of mid-coast Maine, when visiting family members. Having successfully established herself in the working world, Shadi decided to add the art of hospitality to her other artistic talents.
Shadi’s husband purchased the Queen Anne House built in 1860s by the Morse family so that she could articulate her vision of a place for Old World culture, arts and a spa. Shadi’s plan for Kismet Inn is not simply that of a bed and breakfast, for people to stay the night and then be on their way, but a way to offer an extraordinary experience. Shadi deliberately chose a small setting to provide the guests the ultimate in individual attention and care. The aim is to make the guests feel at home in a tranquil and serene setting, where they are reminded of the days when families would entertain each other without the intrusion of television. Games are provided including an exquisite backgammon set, or guests can sit around the fire, out on the screen porch or pick a book from the library.
The bedding is all natural, food is all organic, just like the old days.
Upon arrival guests are invited to remove their shoes, stretch their toes and step into the enchanting atmosphere of the inn, and enjoy a cup of Kismet Inn's aromatic tea and signature homemade pastry.
Later, guests may indulge themselves in the unique features of their beautifully appointed bedroom, where every comfort has been catered. Each exquisite bed, designed by Shadi and made by a local craftsman, has been fitted with a fabulously comfortable mattress and pillows, a handmade quilt and a down comforter. Each room has been decorated with its own unique color palette and collection of modern and antique handicrafts and artwork, including Persian carpets.
All rooms have luxurious private bathrooms featuring radiant heat with pebble floors that massage your feet, a shower with steam and spray jets, or a deep Japanese style-soaking tub (or Turkish Hamam).
The Kismet Inn does not follow any diet or exercise trend. An array of international dishes is offered, mixing and matching the best of several cultures. Guests can choose to stay in a room with a steam shower or one with a Japanese-style soaking tub (or Turkish Hamam). They can wake up to a healthy, wholesome breakfast, stay at home and enjoy reading in the Inn’s library, or take a walk in town and enjoy some of Bath’s historic architectural treasures.
